Andes uses a convention that the positive x axis must point in a direction in the first quadrant (0 <= qx < 90 degrees). This is just a convention used by Andes. To align axes with a direction in the second or fourth quadrants, you must adjust the X axis so that the positive or negative Y axis is aligned with that direction.

This restriction can make the axis tool seem "sticky" on the screen, especially when you are trying to draw a standard horizontal axis. TIP: always tilt the X axis direction up a little when you start drawing it, so that it is easy to move while you stretch it out to the desired length for your diagram. Then rotate it back to the desired location.
